Old Time Music - what does it mean? Well, it's one of those broad musical categories that covers a lot of territory in the world of traditional American folk music. Most of the repertoire in this "old" genre was introduced on commercial recordings made in the rural south during the 1920s and 1930s.
This collection runs the stylistic gamut from jug band classics like "Stealin'" by Jerry Garcia and David Grisman to Carter Family favorites such as "Forsaken Love" by Charles Sawtelle with Norman Blake and Grisman, as well as songs featuring old-time masters Doc Watson, John Hartford, Mike Seeger, John Cohen and Jody Stecher.
